FBS

Sugar sand with fast blood Fast Glucose)

A test that measures blood sugar levels. Elevated levels are associated with diabetes and insulin resistance, in which the body is unable to properly treat sugar (such as obesity), says Dr. Denis.

The target values:

Less than 100 mg/dL = normal.

Between 110-125 mg/dL = weakened fast glucose (i.e. prediabetes).

More than 126 mg/dL on two or more samples = diabetes

Preparation

This test requires a 12-hour speed. You should wait for food and/or take a hypoglycemic (insulin or oral medication) until the test is done, unless otherwise specified, says Dr Slinkin.

When you eat and digest food called carbohydrates, glucose (blood sugar) is produced. Glucose is necessary for your body to have energy for normal activities. Insulin is essential to your body so that glucose can enter cells and be used as energy. Without insulin, blood glucose levels FBS will rise. Diabetes is a disease that occurs when either the pancreas (an organ in your body) is unable to produce insulin, or the pancreas produces insulin but does not work as it should. Packaging blood sugar is part of the diabetic assessment and treatment. FBS over 126 mg/dL in several cases usually indicates diabetes.

Denis SlinkinGlycosylated hemoglobin or hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C)

Reflects the average blood sugar level FBS in the previous 90-day period. Elevated levels are associated with pre-diabetes and diabetes mellitus. People with diabetes have an increased risk of heart attacks. Diabetics have the same risk of heart attack as non-diabetics who have had one heart attack and a second heart attack. Aggressive global preventive measures to reduce the risk, such as reducing LDL targets, diet, exercise and blood pressure control are recommended.

Target values (according to American Diabetes Association guidelines):

A range of 5.7-6.4 per cent indicates an increased risk of diabetes (i.e. prediabetes), and lifestyle interventions may be useful.

FBS Denis SlinkinA value equal to or greater than 6.5 per cent is considered diabetic.t CancerTalk Project was founded to provide support groups for women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in the local community. The goal of The Breast CancerTalk Project is to provide access to group support for persons with breast cancer during all stages of the disease. The Breast CancerTalk Project will maintain a safe, nurturing environment for persons coping with breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, with life after cancer, and with grief issues. Support groups are facilitated by a licensed therapist who is experienced in breast cancer issues. The Breast CancerTalk Project will inform and educate persons with breast cancer about community resources, and assist persons in the support groups to utilize these resources to the fullest.
